#PLOT4IN4
Are you an author with an idea file that’s full to overflowing?
Do you want to indulge your shiny object syndrome for a month to see if the story has what it takes to become your next work in progress? Are you looking for a structured approach to unleash your creativity and build your writing portfolio?
We run three quarterly events in Wordmakers: Plan-A-Thon, Plot-A-Thon, and #20kin5Days. Over the years, I’ve recognized a natural, seasonal inclination to slow down, so the fourth quarter has always been a time to take stock of the year and start some big-picture planning for the year to come. Thus, #Plot4in4 was born!
Now, I know that plotting and planning can be overwhelming, with so many ideas floating around and the challenge of structuring them into coherent stories. Don’t worry! I’m here to guide you through the process of plotting and planning that will produce a story starter that’s ready to be written when you finish your current project.
During this challenge, authors can expect:
1. A Clear Framework: We’re tackling the overwhelm of idea management by focusing on the building blocks of each story. Think of it as a practical roadmap for turning your ideas into fully realized story starters that will be ready for you when you’re ready to dive in.
2. Story Starter Outlines: By the end of the month, you’ll have four detailed story outlines ready to roll. Think of them as blueprints, making it easier to transition from plotting to writing without getting overwhelmed.
3. Creative Freedom, but with Direction: You’ll have the chance to explore those shiny new ideas, but instead of getting lost in them, we’ll channel that energy into tangible results.
4. Weekly Brainstorming Sessions: On November 1st, 8th, 15th, and 29th we will jump into a Zoom room to brainstorm and chat about our projects. These will be just like our regular Plot-a-thons that Mia Heintzelmen runs each quarter, except they will be run by me!
5. Tips & Best Practices: From October 15th, you’ll receive weekly tips, prompts, and best practices to help you prep for the challenge. Each week will build on the last, setting you up for success come November 1st.
6. Community Support: You won’t be doing this alone. Join a community of fellow authors, all working toward the same goal. Share your progress, celebrate your wins, and troubleshoot any challenges along the way.
7. Flexible Commitment: Life happens. This challenge is designed to be flexible. Whether you can dedicate an hour a day or just a few hours a week, you’ll be able to stay on track and get results.
Imagine ending November with four detailed story outlines, ready to be transformed into captivating novels. The challenge starts November 1st, and I will be sharing tips and best practices starting October 15th!
